Un hommage mondial
Ce 18 Juillet, Nelson Mandela aurait eu 100 ans. Premier président noir de l’Afrique du Sud, il avait notamment reçu le prix Nobel de la paix vers la fin de l’année 1993. Sa philosophie de vie, sa pensée et son combat ont fait de Mandela une des figures de la politiques internationales.
Mardi, dans un discours dans un stade de Johannesburg, point d’orgue des célébrations en hommage à « Madiba », Barack Obama a rappelé « la vague d’espoir qui avait déferlé dans le monde » à la libération de Mandela le 2 février 1990, après vingt-sept années derrière les barreaux.
En Angleterre, le couple princier a tenu à inaugurer et visiter une exposition consacrée à la grande figure sud-africaine.
La chanteuse américaine Madonna a publié un tweet dans lequel elle remercie Nelson Mandela pour son inspiration. La légende du football, Pelé, a lui aussi rendu hommage a Madiba sur Twitter.
